The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Senior Sport and Recreation Officer to provide a critical role at Beechworth Correctional Centre.

The Beechworth Correctional Centre is a minimum-security facility with a focus on preparing individuals for release and successful reintegration back into society. It offers various working industries with the men given the opportunity to gain knowledge and skills that will effectively link them to employment on release. When not engaged in work, the men attend rehabilitative programs to address their offending behaviour, engage in education and visits whilst many also engage in recreation and community assistance programs.
About the Role
The Senior Sport and Recreation Officer will assess recreational needs of general and special needs persons to develop, implement and evaluate recreational programs to meet individual and group requirements. The role will negotiate with recreational and program providers to schedule delivery of services ensuring safety and security of all people participating.
The Senior Sport and Recreation Officer will coordinate the services and functions of the Multi-Purpose Hall, Gym, Craft Centre, and Sports Oval and provide instructions, coaching and training to people in our care who participate in sport and recreation activities. In addition, the role will train and provide leadership to staff who work within recreation.
