An exciting opportunity for a capable Senior Solicitor to join a forward-thinking State government legal team that supports the diverse work of the Department as a responsive, strategic advisory service on complex, high-value work.
The Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA) is looking for an innovative experienced lawyer who is able to work with minimal supervision, to join a highly skilled in-house legal team, within the Legal and Legislation division. The advertised role is a 3 day per week job share, for a fixed term period from 22 December 2025 to 15 July 2026, with a possible extension if required.
The successful applicant will have demonstrated experience in the delivery of authoritative, strategic and practical legal advice, in two or more of the following areas: administrative law, statutory interpretation, workplace and employment law, dispute resolution, environment law, energy law, agriculture and earth resources, Crown land use and development, natural resource management, commercial law, fire and emergency management, and general government legal practice.

This is a fixed term position available from 22 December 2025 to 15 July 2026, with possible extension if required. The role is a 0.6 FTE (3 days per week) job-share arrangement. The work location for this position is Melbourne CBD with hybrid work arrangements available.
