The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.

About the Role
The purpose of this role is to lead the day-to-day operations of the Workers' Compensation Team, supporting the delivery of high-quality, timely and consistent advice and technical support in the management of workers' compensation matters. The role works under the direction of the Manager and operates as part of a team of Team Leaders, working collaboratively to support the effective functioning and continuous improvement of the broader team.
The role has a strong focus on stakeholder engagement and service delivery to schools and corporate workplaces. The successful candidate will demonstrate well-developed verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to build effective working relationships and collaborate with a range of stakeholders across the Department. The role includes preparing briefings and correspondence, and contributing to discussions on workers' compensation matters, including at senior forums as required.

This role includes people management responsibilities and requires the ability to support team capability, foster a positive and inclusive team culture, and ensure accountability for individual and team outputs. The successful candidate will model public sector values and behaviours, adhere to performance standards, and work constructively with the Manager and peer Team Leaders to identify and address issues that may impact service delivery.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
The successful candi date must have a minimum of two years of recent experience working within workers compensation. An understanding of the Department of Education payroll system (eduPay) is desirable.
This role may travel across the region to undertake school visits, and a current driver's licence is mandatory. As this role may require onsite school visits a working with children's check is required.
