An exciting opportunity exists to secure an ongoing role with the department as a Senior Service Delivery Advisor, School Bus Program. The School Bus Program provides transport assistance to approximately 65,000 students attending government and non-government Victorian Schools across regional and rural Victoria. Working alongside, and reporting to, the Manager, School Bus Program, the role is accountable for the departments responsibilities to manage and deliver the School Bus Program policy, while working collaboratively with the Department of Transport and Planning who administer the School Bus Program operational requirements and manage the bus contracts.

The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the Branch
The Student Transport and Allowances Branch is responsible for the:
- Students with Disabilities Transport Program
- Conveyance Allowance Program
- School Bus Program, including the state-wide roll out of centralised coordination of the program through the Student Travel System (STS)
- Buses and Vehicles - Owned or Hired by a School Policies
- Development and implementation of reform and improvement for all programs consistent with government priorities and budget responsibilities
About the Role

Working alongside, and reporting to, the Manager, School Bus Program, the role is accountable for the departments responsibilities to manage and deliver the School Bus Program policy, while working collaboratively with the Department of Transport and Planning who administer the School Bus Program operational requirements and manage the bus contracts.
The Senior Service Delivery Advisor is responsible for;
- working with schools via Webex, phone, and in person to ensure the School Bus Program policy is understood and implemented at the local level
- supporting schools and families with complex travel issues
- responding to parent travel enquiries via phone and email
- assessing route alteration and new transport service applications against the School Bus Program policy, which includes some mapping and data analysis work
- drafting briefing and correspondence responses for the Minister for Education office
- assessing and compiling Transport Special Case Consideration applications for presentation to Transport Special Case Consideration Panel
- leading review and analysis of the School Bus Program policy as changes and developments occur, such as; Child Safe Standards and Bus Safety improvements, and recommending updates and improvements to policy documentation as appropriate
- driving continuous improvement to ensure transport programs and services are delivered to meet the needs of students and families across Victoria
- contributing to development and reform activity across the program and the broader transport and allowances branch.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience
- Experience in service delivery or program management, particularly ones that require nuanced balance between needs of the government and department, alongside strong and effective stakeholder engamenet with program users to maximise success and achieve the desired outcomes
- Proven ability to effectively build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders through effective communication and consulting abilities
