The Victorian Registration and Qualifications Authority (VRQA) is a statutory authority established under the Education and Training Reform Act 2006. The Senior Governance Advisor will work as part of small, high performing Governance and Corporate Services team to coordinate governance and corporate systems and processes that directly support the VRQA Board, Executive and staff of the VRQA.
As part of the Governance and Corporate Services unit, you will be responsible for providing high level advice, specialist expertise and preparation and quality assurance of complex briefings, reports and papers for the VRQA Executive, Board and relevant Ministers.
About the Role
The role works as a member of the Governance and Corporate Services unit responsible for the VRQA's key governance and corporate services functions The position will support the office with varied governance projects and systems, development and advice of policies and protocols and broad ranging corporate matters.
Key accountabilities include providing advice on statutory authority governance, developing a sound understanding of the policy and legislative framework underpinning the role and functions of the VRQA, coordinating key governance systems and processes including a highly effective Board Secretariat function.
Attributes
The Senior Governance Advisor must demonstrate superior communication skills, particularly written, and excellent attention to detail, and as you will often be required to seamlessly bring together the contributions of others. Excellent planning, organising and work-tracking skills are a core requirement.
The role also contributes to Government, Department and other reporting obligations, including coordination of cabinet and Governor in Council processes and processing of Freedom of Information Requests. As this officer often deals with information and issues that are sensitive, a high level of personal integrity and professionalism is expected.
