Senior Reporting Analyst
- Salary: $113,022 - $136,747 (Plus Superannuation)

The Role
As a Senior Reporting Analyst, you will play a key role in ensuring the accuracy and integrity of DJSIR's general ledger and delivering high quality financial reporting products, including annual financial statements and management reports. This position provides expert financial accounting advice to senior management and stakeholders, particularly on the application of accounting standards and compliance with the Financial Management Act 1994. The role is required to manage and analyse big data and manages reconciliations, reviews processes across the department, and oversees staff training to ensure accurate and timely results.
Key accountabilities include:
- Deliver a range of activities associated with the delivery of DJSIR's financial accounting and reporting requirements, including;
- Complete DJSIR's financial reporting obligations in accordance with the Financial Management Act 1994, accounting standards, Financial Reporting Directions, Standing Directions, DJSIR's financial policies and procedures and DTF financial reporting guidance;
- Ensure the integrity, completeness and accuracy of DJSIR's general ledger for internal and external reporting requirements including reporting to DTF and VAGO;
- Delivery of DJSIR's financial reporting related products, including DJSIR's monthly data feeds, mid-year and other monthly executive reporting in accordance with agreed quality and time related targets; and
- Ensure the completeness and accuracy of general ledger balances through review, analysis and approval of balance sheet and operating account and process reconciliations including motor vehicle leases, accounts.
- Provide authoritative financial expertise and analysis to advise/explain complex accounting policies, transactions, concepts and issues to senior management including the preparation of technical reports and analysis for discussion.
- Work collaboratively with DTF, VAGO engaging stakeholders to ensure that financial accounting and reporting activities, meet quality and timeliness requirements, actively managing issues as they arise, utilising a strong working knowledge of DTF's SRIMS and departmental systems and ad-hoc tasks as assigned.
- Develop and implement DJSIR's internal controls, financial policies and procedures and frameworks in relation to general ledger integrity and financial reporting.
- Contribute to increasing the effectiveness, efficiency and financial management capability of the branch and Department.
The Team
The position of Senior Reporting Analyst will work within Finance, Investment and Procurement branch, which sits within Corporate Services group.
The Corporate Services group consists of specialist functions including strategic communications, finance, investment and procurement, performance and governance, legal and legislation, people and culture, information technology and workplace services and emergency management. These functions enable the department to operate efficiently and effectively and support the Secretary and Ministers to meet legislative obligations and responsibilities whilst actively supporting the department's portfolio groups and Ministers to create the conditions for growing Victoria's prosperity, building the productive capacity of our economy, and increasing participation.

About You
To be successful in this role you will have the following skills and experience:
- Financial skills: Excellent financial skills and demonstrated applied experience in financial accounting. This includes the ability to clearly articulate and apply the financial accounting implications of policy decisions and/or other transactions and the provision of advice to senior management on financial accounting issues to facilitate strategic decision making.
- Understanding of government: Knowledge and understanding of key processes involved in government accounting and finance, including the operation of Financial Management Act 1994, Financial Reporting Directions and Standing Directions.
- Stakeholder management: Identifies issues in common for one or more stakeholders and uses to build mutually beneficial partnerships, Identifies and responds to stakeholder's underlying needs, uses understanding of the stakeholder's organisational context to ensure outcomes are achieved, finds innovative solutions to resolve stakeholder issues.
- Written communication: Able to assist in preparing briefs, letters, emails and reports using clear, concise and grammatically correct language; edits written communications to ensure they contain the information necessary to achieve their purpose and meet audience needs; ensures appropriate style and formats are used.
- Service Excellence: Proactive and self-starting; identifies and responds to clients' underlying needs; uses understanding of the client or stakeholder's organisational context to tailor services and ensure a well-researched quality response; looks beyond the obvious to provide outstanding levels of services; constructively deals with service issues that arise in a timely manner; effectively manages risks to service delivery.
- Conceptual and analytical ability: Deals with concepts and complexity comfortably; uses analytical and conceptual skills to reason through problems; has creative ideas and can project how these can link to innovations.
