Senior Records Officer
The Role
The Senior Records Officer works within the Digital Governance and Risk team to support effective records management, compliance, and continuous improvement across the department. The role plays a key part in supporting the transition from legacy systems, including Content Manager decommissioning, digitisation activities, and optimisation of Record365 as the department's manage-in-place records solution.
This role is ideal for an experienced records management professional who can operate in a complex government environment, provide specialist advice, support system transitions, and help uplift organisational capability through training and guidance. The position also ensures compliance with legislative and policy requirements, including standards set by Public Record Office Victoria.
Main Accountabilities
The Team
The position sits within the Information Technology & Workplace Services (IT&WS) branch, part of the Corporate Services Group.
IT&WS is responsible for delivering ICT and workplace accommodation services and investments across the department. The branch ensures systems and services are well governed, effectively designed, and efficiently delivered, supporting both internal users and external service providers while maintaining strong assurance and compliance frameworks.
About You
You bring demonstrated experience in records or information management within a government or regulated environment, including strong knowledge of retention, disposal, and compliance requirements. You are comfortable working with EDRMS or manage-in-place systems such as Record365 and can apply legislative frameworks in practice.
You also demonstrate strong stakeholder engagement skills, building effective relationships across diverse teams and providing clear, practical advice. Your communication skills enable you to translate technical records concepts into accessible guidance, and you contribute to continuous improvement through innovation and problem-solving.
