About the role:
This position is a Fixed-Term, Full-time role to 29 October 2027.
The Senior Public Health Adviser will support communicable disease prevention and control activities across the networked public health system through the provision and maintenance of state-wide policy, strategy, surveillance, assurance, co-ordination and outbreak response.
Demonstrating relevant technical expertise and experience in antimicrobial resistance (AMR) and communicable disease control as well as in information gathering, critical thinking and analysis, strategy development, peer support and stakeholder engagement, this role will have the opportunity to coordinate and develop public health control strategies that keep Victorians safe from communicable diseases.
The successful applicant for this role will be a high performing team member with strong technical knowledge and experience in the management of including outbreak management as well as strong written and verbal communication skills and problem-solving abilities; this will be complemented by strategic leadership and peer support skills with an eye for system design and improvement. The successful applicant will have an ability to work flexibly across the Communicable Disease Unit to support evolving public health and strategic priorities, emerging threats and urgent operational responses.

Qualification/Specialist Expertise
Tertiary qualification in health or environmental health is required.
Post graduate qualifications in public health, public policy or an equivalent would be desirable.
