The Role
Be part of a dynamic evaluation and design team working to maximise the impact of government programs, policies and services. As a Senior Project Officer, Review and Evaluation, you will lead and contribute to evaluations across a broad range of portfolio areas including creative industries, sport and outdoor recreation, tourism, skills and TAFE, industry development, employment, and regional economies. You will provide evaluation advice, undertake project planning, support evaluation capability across the department, and work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality reviews and evaluations that inform decision-making and improve outcomes for Victorians. This role is ideal for a critical thinker with strong analytical and communication skills who enjoys solving complex problems and working closely with stakeholders.
Main Accountabilities
• Provide technical leadership and work in specialist project teams to undertake research and evaluate key initiatives across the department's portfolio areas.
• Analyse data, collate evidence and conduct stakeholder interviews to formulate findings and recommendations.
• Lead the production of concise, high-quality reports, briefs and submissions to support effective decision-making.
• Initiate, manage and maintain effective stakeholder relationships to ensure successful project delivery.
• Collaborate effectively in project teams using best-practice project management disciplines to deliver projects on time and to agreed objectives.
The Team
The position of Senior Project Officer, Review and Evaluation forms a part of the Design and Evaluation Branch within the Economic Policy, Programs and Services Group.
The Economic Policy, Programs and Services Group supports sustainable economic development and employment growth across Victoria through policy, research, project delivery and evaluation expertise.
Design and Evaluation operates as an internal management consultancy, partnering with teams across the Department to improve policy and program outcomes through research, stakeholder engagement, program design and high-quality evaluations.
About You
You will bring experience delivering significant reviews and evaluation projects, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality outcomes within tight timeframes. You will use your advanced analytical, conceptual and problem-solving skills to assess complex issues, interpret evidence and develop sound recommendations.
You will also have strong written, visual and verbal communication skills, with demonstrated experience producing engaging reports, presentations, submissions and briefings that support effective decision-making.
