The Department of Justice and Community Safety (the department) is seeking a Senior Project Officer, Prison Capacity Analysis and Reporting, to provide a critical role within Sentence Management Division.
About the Business Unit
Sitting within the Corrections and Justice Services Group, Corrections Victoria (CV) operates Victoria's adult corrections system. CV is responsible for achieving the appropriate balance between a safe, secure and humane system while providing programs and services that seek to rehabilitate people through addressing the underlying causes of offending behaviour.
The Sentence Management Division (SMD) sits within Corrections Victoria and consists of the following units:
Sentence Management Operations is responsible for identifying the needs of people in custody and matching them to correctional resources with the objective of placing and managing them appropriately. It is a process of balancing security, management and needs of people in custody, the community's need for protection and efficient and effective operation of the correctional system. Sentence Management Operations is responsible for guiding the journey of people during their sentence.The Sentence Management Escorts team coordinates inter‑prison escorts and works closely with prison locations to ensure vacancy data is accurately maintained, enabling escorts to operate within approved caps and available bed numbers.
About the Role
The Senior Project Officer, Prison Capacity Analysis and Reporting, acts as a key liaison between Sentence Management Operations and prisons. The role provides analysis and advice on system and prison‑based vacancies, considering built, funded, open and operational bed capacity. The position applies a system‑wide perspective in relation to requests to take prison beds offline and provides strategic advice in relation to prison bed capacity and vacancy reporting to a range of stakeholders, including executive management.
