Senior Project Officer, Events
- Salary: $113,022 - $136,747 (Plus superannuation)
- Fixed-term for 2 years

The Role
Reporting to the Manager, Event Programs Delivery, the Senior Project Officer, Events is responsible for leading and overseeing contract management, budget and financial management of the Major Events Fund, Business Events Fund, Regional Victoria Business Events Program, Regional Events Fund, Regional Business Events Program and other event programs. It will support the delivery of the Significant Sporting Events Program.
The position prepares high quality Cabinet submissions, correspondence, written reports, publications, and briefs that are tailored to the audience including senior management and ministers and aligned with departmental requirements and funding program guidelines.
The Senior Project Officer, Events will have excellent project, contract and financial management skills, strong stakeholder engagement skills, and high quality written and verbal communication skills.
Main accountabilities:
- Lead and oversee contract management, budget and financial management and provision of advice regarding the Major Events Fund, Business Events Fund, Regional Victoria Business Events Program, Regional Events Fund, Regional Business Events Program and other event programs.
- Provide regular financial reports to the Manager, Major Events Programs on the status of the Major Events Fund, the Business Events Fund and other event programs.
- Provide high quality strategic planning and policy advice and advocacy on existing and new programs and event related policies and provide responses to information requests from senior executives and Ministerial offices, including management of evaluations, correspondence, lapsing program reviews and budget bids across all program areas.
- Prepare high quality Cabinet submissions, correspondence, written reports, publications, and briefs, that are informative and aligned with departmental requirements, for senior management and the Minister for all event funding programs.
- Manage the development of funding agreements and variations for all programs and stakeholder relationships, including the Significant Sporting Events Program; and oversee the acquittal of payment and reporting deliverables for all programs.
- Provide leadership to other team members, identify organisational innovation opportunities and maintain and build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including with State Government organisations, government agencies and event related stakeholders.
The Team
The position of Senior Project Officer, Events forms part of the Tourism, Events and Entities Branch, which sits within the Sport and Experience Economy (SEE) Group.
Sport and Experience Economy (SEE) is comprised of Sport and Recreation Victoria (SRV), Tourism and Events (T&E) The SEE Group delivers programs and initiatives to support positive experiences and a sense of belonging through sport, tourism and events and outdoor recreation – sectors that make Victoria a recognised leader from the grassroots level to the international stage. This is achieved by supporting the Minister for Tourism, Sport and Major Events and the Minister for Community Sport in the delivery of sport and tourism infrastructure, and through programs and policies that strengthen the capacity of sport and experience economy organisations, reduce barriers to participation and engagement, support world-class events, and reinforce the role that vibrant sport and experience economy sectors play in growing the Victorian econ
omy, supporting jobs and building stronger communities.
The Tourism, Events and Entities Branch is responsible for strengthening the profile of tourism and events across government and influencing strategic reforms and economic outcomes for the sector.
Tourism, Events and Entities undertakes research and provides policy, strategy and industry development advice to the government and industry on the visitor economy. The branch also provides governance support and advice on a number of entities that market the state, secure events, and manage large scale tourist attractions, precincts, facilities and entertainment venues in Victoria.
About You
