The Senior Project Officer Domestic Trade provides authoritative advice to the Senior Project Officer Domestic Quarantine and the Chief Plant Health Officer on the administration and development of market access programs delivered to support Victorian and interstate plant industries.
The role involves working with industry and interstate government agencies to maintain and improve systems and controls to support market access and trade through management of risk such as fruit fly. The position may also be required to participate on relevant national committees and working groups, as well as providing advice and support to national response programs.
The role will also work closely with staff across the Chief Plant Health Officer Branch, Plants Chemicals and Invasives Branch and the Food, Regulatory and Biosecurity Policy Branch across the Department of Energy, Environment and Climate Action (DEECA).
Biosecurity staff in DEECA play a major role in supporting Victoria's fire and flood emergency response activities, biosecurity incursions and compliance actions. Staff will be required to undertake activities to support an emergency response, necessitating a rapid change of work priorities.
The successful applicant will work effectively as a member of a team, enjoy flexible working arrangements and undertake a wide variety of work across the division.

This is a fixed term position available for a period until 30 June 2026. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
