The Role
The Senior Project Officer contributes to the achievement of Small Business and Employment (SBE) objectives as part of the Capability and Networks team. The role supports the design, delivery and evaluation of programs, engagement initiatives and services that strengthen Victoria's small business sector.
Working across the Capability and Networks team and the broader branch, the role supports policy, program and project priorities through project management, stakeholder engagement and advisory activities. This includes coordinating engagements and forums, preparing submissions and briefings for senior executives, undertaking reporting and research activities, and supporting delivery of initiatives that enhance the capability of Victorian small businesses and business owners.
Main Accountabilities
• Manage and lead projects that support delivery of branch and program priorities
• Model high-level leadership attributes and contribute to a collaborative team environment
• Understand and respond to stakeholder issues to support effective program delivery
• Develop project briefs aligned with business plan direction and program objectives
• Apply innovative thinking and analysis to influence operational improvements within the work area
The Team
The position of Senior Project Officer forms a part of the Small Business and Employment Branch within the Economic Policy, Programs and Services Group.
The Economic Policy, Programs and Services Group supports sustainable economic development and employment growth for Victoria through leadership in policy design, research, analysis, advice, project management and evaluation.
The Small Business and Employment branch fosters economic growth and job creation by supporting prospective business owners, self-employed Victorians, and small and medium enterprises to thrive in an inclusive and competitive business environment. Through the Business Victoria brand, the branch provides information, expertise, advisers and digital tools to help businesses start, grow and adapt in a changing economy.
About You
• Demonstrated ability to translate strategic priorities into effective projects or programs that deliver outcomes, supported by strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills.
• Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to present clear advice, build trusted relationships and manage complex or sensitive discussions with stakeholders.
