About the Department
The role of the Department of Education is to support Victorians to build prosperous, socially engaged, happy and healthy lives. It does this by supporting lifelong learning and healthy development, strengthening families and helping to equip people with the skills and knowledge for a 21st century economy and society.
About the Victorian School Building Authority
The Victorian School Building Authority (VSBA) is part of the Department of Education. Established in 2016, it oversees Victoria's largest school building program since the state introduced free public education in the 1870s.
The VSBA upgrades and expands existing schools and plans, designs and builds new schools to meet enrolment demand. We also support schools to maintain their buildings and grounds by offering expert advice and coordinating maintenance programs and grants.
With Victoria recently introducing two years of funded kindergarten, the VSBA is also working with the early childhood sector on a massive kindergarten construction program.
About the Division
The Asset Management Division is responsible for setting VSBA's strategic asset direction, developing and implementing programs that address accessibility, inclusion, and accommodation initiatives, and building school capacity to manage assets.
The Asset Management Division supports the effective management of school assets under the shared responsibility model. The Division seeks to ensure that all responsible parties are equipped with the information, tools, and capability to effectively manage school assets, as well as implementing asset management reform projects that will enhance the asset management system under which we operate.
Relevant programs within the Division include the Asset Management Branch, School Asset Management Support Branch, Facilities Branch, Maintenance Delivery Branch, and the Programs Branch.
About the Role
The role is located in the Asset Information Management System (AIMS) Unit within the VSBA's School Asset Management Support Branch. AIMS is a central IT system being used by both VSBA and schools across Victoria and provides a live, single source of asset management information in an accessible format to users.
Reporting to the Manager of the AIMS Unit, the Senior Technology Advisor/Officer provides technical support for AIMS. This involves providing guidance and strategic support, as well as ensuring alignment with objectives in the local work area. The Senior Technology Advisor will offer technical support, foster innovation and drive transformation throughout the department, while also leading engagement with internal Business Units to analyse issues, identify solutions, and manage the overall engagement process.
To be successful in this role, you will be experienced in the following:
All VSBA staff have a shared responsibility to meet the same service standards outlined in the VSBA Customer Service Charter. Our goal is to make every interaction with the VSBA a positive one for our customers, colleagues and key partners regardless of our individual role or team.
Capabilities
We are looking for someone to support technical delivery and engage with diverse stakeholders to work through complex issues from problem identification to solution implementation, and evaluation. You will facilitate design processes to best understand user needs and ensure decisions are made within agreed timelines. An understanding of information management technologies and change processes will underpin your daily activities.
