About us:
At the Victorian Department of Health we want a future where Victorians are the healthiest people in the world. A Victoria where our children and people thrive, our workplaces are productive and safe, and our communities are more connected.
We see it as our job to support Victorians to stay healthy and safe. And to deliver a world-class healthcare system that ensures every single Victorian can access safe, quality care that leads to better health outcomes for all.
About you:
The Department of Health is seeking an experienced and driven Senior Project Officer to lead and deliver strategic projects that strengthen health outcomes across the community.
In this key role, you will manage a diverse portfolio of complex projects and service development initiatives, providing expert advice across divisions and branches. You will monitor and report on emerging issues and trends, preparing clear and insightful reports, briefs, and recommendations for senior stakeholders.
Success in this position requires a strong ability to influence and negotiate outcomes, manage competing priorities, and deliver high-quality results within time and budget. You will lead consultations with a wide range of stakeholders — including health services, government agencies, and community partners — to ensure effective collaboration and informed policy development.
The Senior Project Officer will oversee key projects from inception to delivery, including contract management with external providers to achieve measurable outcomes. Building and maintaining productive relationships across the department and the wider health sector will be central to your role, helping to foster a cohesive and partnership-based approach to the implementation of major initiatives.
You will be expected to work flexibly across multiple projects and multidisciplinary teams to meet emerging priorities. The role also requires maintaining accurate records in accordance with legislative and departmental requirements and contributing to a safe and supportive workplace by adhering to occupational health and safety policies.
This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to high-impact projects that shape the future of health service delivery. If you are results-driven, strategic, and skilled at collaboration, we invite you to apply and make a difference in Victoria's health system.
