The Consumer Affairs and Local Government Group
The purpose of this group is to make it easier for customers and businesses to engage with government. It is accountable for strategy and policy development, regulatory design, sector support and program design and the delivery of regulatory services to – and in the best interests of – Victorians. It aims to provide consistently great customer experiences in the delivery of scalable, efficient and effective services. About the role
The Senior Project Adviser provides strategic governance, reporting and secretariat support across the CALG Group project portfolio. The role supports the effective operation of the CALG Group Project Steering Committee, coordinates and reviews project and portfolio reporting, and provides expert advice, tools and guidance to strengthen governance, oversight and decision-making across the Group.
The position focuses on enabling successful project and program delivery through strong governance, clear reporting and consistent practices.
Key Accountabilities
- Provide high-level advice and support on project and program governance frameworks, processes and requirements across the CALG Group. Establish and maintain fit-for-purpose governance processes that support oversight, accountability, compliance and timely decision-making.
- Act as Secretariat for the CALG Group Project Steering Committee, including coordinating agendas, preparing papers, collating briefing materials, recording decisions and actions, and following up outcomes to support effective governance and accountability.
- Coordinate, review and quality assure project and program reporting for executive and governance audiences. Analyse reports to identify key issues, risks, interdependencies, trends and actions requiring escalation or decision. Support the provision of accurate, timely and meaningful portfolio insights.
- Provide authoritative advice to project managers, sponsors and senior stakeholders on governance requirements, reporting expectations, project documentation, risk and issue escalation, and good practice project and program management approaches.
- Develop, maintain and improve project governance tools, templates, guidance materials and reporting artefacts to support consistency, quality and efficiency across the Group. Identify opportunities to strengthen governance maturity and embed better practice.
- Build productive relationships with project leads, executives and key stakeholders to support a coordinated and consistent approach to project governance. Communicate clearly and with impact, tailoring messages, presentations and advice to suit different audiences and support informed decision-making.
Mandatory requirements
- Experience in project, program, governance, policy or executive support environments will be highly regarded.
- Formal qualifications or certification in project management, program management or governance are desirable but not mandatory.
