An exciting opportunity exists to join the Child and Youth Health Branch in the Healthy and Active Schools team in a fixed-term full-time position.
About the Department
The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services.
The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
Role Purpose
The purpose of this role is to lead and coordinate projects within the Healthy and Active Schools team as part of the Wellbeing Health and Engagement Division. This role involves planning, stakeholder engagement, funding, contract management and accountability processes, as well as coordinating short term projects. Building positive relationships with staff and engagement with key stakeholders within and outside the department are a crucial part of this role.
The position will work autonomously and in teams across the department to advance the department's health and wellbeing agenda, with a particular focus on healthy eating, physical activity, sexuality and relationships education, and alcohol and other drugs. The Healthy and Active Schools team also manages the design, rollout and implementation of a range of school health programs and election commitments such as the Active Schools initiative and the School Breakfast Clubs program as well as supporting the Department of Health to deliver the Smile Squad, free dental initiative.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience
The applicant will have comprehensive knowledge about Victorian health, human service and education systems, a record of strategic policy or program development and operational management, understanding about health issues facing children and young people and demonstrated understanding of the workings of government.
Experience and knowledge in the health promotion, health prevention or education space will be advantageous.
Desirable : Relevant tertiary qualification in a health or education related field
