About the Role
The Senior Program Planner (Occupations) provides expert leadership in the planning, coordination, and impact analysis of planned disruptions. This role ensures disruption activities align with the Department of Transport and Planning’s (DTP) customer standards and network disruption frameworks.
Collaborating closely with a wide range of senior stakeholders—including transport disruption proponents, project agencies, government departments, and various functional divisions—the role supports maintaining the master schedule and evaluates the impacts of planned disruptions. Additionally, the Senior Program Planner leads high-level change management efforts and facilitates planning meetings as needed.

Key Selection Criteria
The Department of Transport and Planning (DTP) is seeking a highly skilled Senior Program Planner (Occupations) to lead the planning, coordination, and impact analysis of planned transport disruptions. This role is pivotal in ensuring that disruption planning and delivery align with DTP’s customer standards and network disruption frameworks, while effectively supporting a broad range of stakeholders.
The successful candidate will demonstrate advanced critical thinking and problem-solving skills, resolving complex issues through interpretation of existing guidelines or independent analysis when guidelines are unavailable. They will make informed decisions by consulting with others and gathering necessary information to achieve optimal outcomes.
Exceptional influence and persuasion capabilities are essential, as the role requires adapting communication styles and messages to diverse audiences while addressing objections constructively. The candidate must skillfully manage stakeholder relationships by adding value, linking people across departments, monitoring satisfaction, and resolving issues professionally.
Effective communication with impact is crucial, involving the preparation and delivery of clear, logical, and succinct presentations using appropriate media to enhance understanding. Strong interpersonal skills are also required, including the ability to see situations from others’ perspectives, understand stakeholder motivations, and tailor communications accordingly.
In addition, the Senior Program Planner will be responsible for defining project tasks, coordinating and guiding teams to deliver agreed outcomes, monitoring progress, and taking corrective actions as needed to ensure timely delivery.
