The Senior Program Officer, Strategic Approvals and Referrals will support the Program Manager, Values Management Planning to ensure DEECA's forest and fire management operational and tactical planning processes and systems enable DEECA to demonstrate compliance under environmental protection legislation, including the Environment Protection & Biodiversity Conservation Act.
They will work closely with other Divisions including Policy and Planning Division and Biodiversity Division to embed forest and fire management operational considerations into policy for the protection and conservation of biodiversity and in the design of analysis tools to determine impacts of forest and fire management works at the strategic, operational and tactical levels, and then operationalise these through doctrine, systems and processes in partnership with the broader Planning and Authorisations Branch and Regional Environmental Values Teams.
The Senior Program Officer will also work collaboratively across the FFOD State and Regional Teams and other stakeholders to develop and implement a framework to support individual action referrals for high-priority works, to promote the ongoing and uninterrupted delivery of DEECA's critical forest and fire management works.

This is a fixed term position available until 31 December 2027. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
