The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Senior Program Manager - Gambling Policy to perform a critical role within its Gambling, Liquor & Tobacco business unit.
About the Business Unit
The Gambling, Liquor & Tobacco business unit supports the regulation of gambling, liquor and tobacco in Victoria, to minimise the harms these products can cause and contribute positively to the Victorian economy. It is responsible for:
It advises the Minister for Casino, Gaming and Liquor Regulation and is the primary government point of reference for industry, community and government on liquor and gaming issues.
The unit's Policy branch operates in a complex, fast paced environment. It works at the intersection of economic, social and public health issues, considering ways to minimise harm from gambling, liquor and tobacco, while also considering factors affecting these industries and their workforces.
About the Role
As a member of the unit's Senior Leadership Team, the Senior Program Manager - Gambling Policy leads the identification and scoping of a multi-year pipeline of highly complex, high risk and cross-government work program, as well as the effective and timely execution, evaluation and continual improvement of that program. This role is responsible for oversighting the program management of the legislative and policy program for the gambling portfolio.
Senior Program Managers are highly adept at evidence and risk-based decision-making, with a record of implementing risk, quality and governance controls and continual improvements in the context of program management. They have demonstrated workforce planning and budget management experience, to ensure current and future needs are planned carefully and met, including when program needs change unexpectedly. They have a reputation for responding constructively and agilely, ensuring risks and issues are managed effectively, transparently and on a ‘no surprises' basis.
