The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Senior Prison Officer to provide a critical role at Loddon Prison.
About the Business Unit
The Corrections and Justice Services (CJS) group, comprising Corrections Victoria (CV), Justice Health and Justice Services, plays an integral role in developing safer and more resilient communities and in delivering a trusted justice and community safety system.
Located at Castlemaine, Loddon Prison is a 477 bed Medium Security Prison for sentenced male prisoners. Adjacent to Loddon Prison is Middleton, a 236 bed Restricted Minimum Security Prison for sentenced male prisoners. The focus of both prisons is rehabilitation via individual case management, employment, education, training and also the provision of programs and targeted interventions to address offending behaviour and promote the development of prosocial behaviour. Both prisons provide contemporary and quality correctional services that prepare prisoners for transition and reintegration.
About the Role
Senior Prison Officers take a lead role within custodial teams, coaching, mentoring, and supporting prison officers. The role encompasses a range of teamwork, case management, custodial and security responsibilities and can be responsible for the day-to-day management of prison accommodation and/or security areas/posts.
Senior Prison Officers must have the ability to manage the day-to-day operations of a team of Prison Officers and the case management of more complex or difficult offenders.
Senior Prison Officers model and reinforce behaviour and thinking within their team, and with people in our care that assists the individual's ability to change their behaviour and contribute in a positive manner to the community upon release.
