THE ROLE
The Equality Policy team works across the department and the broader Victorian government and with key stakeholders to develop and deliver high quality strategic advice and support with a focus on the lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans and gender diverse, intersex and queer (LGBTIQA+) communities.
As a Senior Policy Officer in the Equality Policy team you will work across a variety of areas in policy development and support of the Equality portfolio. This role may include providing LGBTIQA+ specific advice in consultation with other departments and agencies on anti-LGBTIQA+ hate crimes and anti-vilification reforms, working with LGBTIQA+ and mainstream delivery partners on the implementation of flagship initiatives including the Rainbow Tick implementation program, Pride in Ageing and QHub LGBTIQA+ youth safe spaces, and supporting the LGBTIQA+ Ministerial Taskforce.
The successful candidate will be a proactive self-starter with a good understanding of government processes and an ability to work in a complex, sensitive and fast paced environment, and demonstrate strong policy, analytical and communication skills coupled with an ability to influence stakeholders and work effectively in a team environment.
