The Senior Policy Officer (SPO) plays a critical role in the development and implementation of planning system reforms required to operationalise the Mineral Resources (Sustainable Development) Amendment Act 2023 within Victoria. This includes designing and implementing new Victoria Planning Provisions (VPPs) and associated planning practice notes, ensuring changes are legally robust, evidence-based, and aligned with the Planning and Environment Act 1987.
The SPO provides authoritative policy advice to the Minister and Executives, manages complex projects within agreed governance and timeframes, and engages with stakeholders, including industry, local government, Traditional Owners and community groups, to deliver reforms that integrate earth resources regulation into Victoria’s planning framework.

This is a fixed term position available for a period of up to 12 months. The work location for this position is 8 Nicholson Street, Melbourne with hybrid work arrangements available.
