An exciting opportunity exists for two talented and passionate individuals to join the First Peoples-State Relations Group in the Land Justice Unit as a Senior Policy Officer at the Department of Premier and Cabinet. We have 2 x Ongoing roles on offer.
The First Peoples - State Relations Group supports an extensive program of priority work with First Peoples, by a strong understanding of self-determination to our work practices and in providing clear and robust advice to the Minister for Treaty and First Peoples, Premier, Cabinet and Senior Executives.
The Land Justice Unit (LJU) is responsible for leading the Government's negotiation and implementation of agreements under the Traditional Owner Settlement Act 2010 (Vic) (TOS Act) and resolution of claims made under the Native Title Act 1993 (Cth).
Reporting to the Manager, Traditional Owner Outcomes, as the Senior Policy Officer you will be assigned projects to assist groups and government to negotiate and implement agreements. You will also be involved in associated policy development, stakeholder engagement, research, education and training, monitoring and evaluation. Infrequent after-hours work and travel from Melbourne may be required.
