THE ROLE
The Senior Policy Officer, Policy and Programs will lead emergency management policy reforms, emergency recovery support programs, and strategic priority projects, with a particular focus on:
- Emergency Recovery Support Program.
- Emergency Psychosocial Services and Supports.
- Emergency management preparedness, planning and policies focused on supporting people at-risk.
- Social services sector emergency management policy, attestation and assurance .
- Emergency Management Hardship Program policy.
This role will work collaboratively with colleagues across the branch, division and department, as well as other state government departments and agencies, and non-government sector partners, to build community resilience to minimise the impact of emergencies on communities. This role will also support the delivery of innovative and community centric models to improve outcomes in the event of an major emergency, focused on people at risk in emergencies.
The Senior Policy Officer, Policy and Programs supports the department's operational response to emergencies and provides important subject matter expertise during emergency operations.
ACCOUNTABILITIES INCLUDE
- Contributes to the development of policy frameworks, strategic planning, and program development to meet the department's responsibilities, including those under the State Emergency Management Plan and Emergency Management Act 2013, and monitoring the delivery of services.
- Represents the department on key government and non-government committees and bodies concerned with achieving government and departmental objectives.
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships and facilitate the flow of information across the department and with key external stakeholders.
