Senior Policy Officer
The Role
As a Senior Policy Officer, you will be part of the Migration Policy and Projects team and will develop high level policy advice, lead key skilled migration program policy projects, and undertake analysis of current and potential government policy to support the state's economic development agenda and advocacy to the Commonwealth Government. They will lead consultations with industry and government stakeholders on various aspects of migration policy and program development. Knowledge of the Australian migration system and labour market is desirable.You will work as a member of a dynamic, multi-skilled team, enjoy flexible working arrangements and undertake a wide variety of work.

The Team
The position of Senior Policy Officer will work within Skilled and Business Migration Program branch, which sits within Industry, Trade and Investment (ITI) group.
The Industry, Trade and Investment group works closely with businesses locally and globally to grow Victorian jobs, drive innovation and increase Victoria's international competitiveness. ITI champions Victoria as a destination of choice for trade and international investment, international education and innovation. ITI harnesses specialist knowledge of key industries and global markets to develop Victoria's priority sectors, boost trade activities, enhance productivity and contribute to economic growth.
The Group does this by: forming trust based relationships with businesses – from global enterprises to small businesses and startups; connecting the state to global opportunities, including through the Victorian Government Trade and Investment (VGTI) network; facilitating new investment and business expansion: supporting agencies, regulators and statutory authorities to meet all required approval deadlines for projects of state significant; developing and attracting world class talent; supporting key industry and manufacturing capabilities; supporting Victorian businesses to excel in global markets; strengthening the State's digital ecosystem and its linkages with industry; accelerating the growth and impact of Victoria's research translation and commercialisation capabilities; and advocating for a competitive, fair and inclusive business environment.\
