THE ROLE
Reporting to the Manager, Strategic Engagement and Lived Experience, the Senior Policy Officer has a critical role in promoting the voices, experiences, and insights of individuals with lived and living experience of the child protection and care systems inform policy development and reform.
The position drives client voice policy, leads and advises on strategic engagement with key stakeholders to support client voice inclusion, and has secretariat responsibilities.
A priority of this position is to support delivery of the Ministerial Youth Advisory Group (MYAG). MYAG is a formal governance group through which young people aged 15-25, who have current or recent experience of the child protection and care systems in Victoria, meet quarterly with the Minister for Children to provide advice about what works well, and what can be improved, in relation to these systems. This position is responsible for supporting members of MYAG to perform their role in advising the Minister and managing the administrative aspects of the group.
This role requires exceptional communication and organisational skills, and policy experience. It is suited to individuals who are resilient and empathic, and who have experience in working with people who have lived and living experience of the child and family service system.
