The Senior Policy Officer will play a key role in the development and management of drought support initiatives, coupled with ongoing Ministerial and departmental monitoring and reporting on drought response activities and governance arrangements. The position will also provide policy and program analysis and timely strategic advice to the Managers, Directors, Executive and to the DEECA Secretary and Minister on drought-related issues.
The successful candidate will have demonstrated knowledge of government processes. They will have strong policy and project/program management skills and experience in researching and developing recommendations to satisfy a complex group of stakeholders.
Excellent communication and time management skills are a must. They will be a strong team player with the interpersonal skills to liaise with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders. They will also need to display a ‘can-do' attitude and actively contribute to developing a culture of excellence, responsiveness and flexibility.
The successful applicant will work effectively as a member of a small team and enjoy flexible working arrangements.

This is a fixed term position available for a period until 30 June 2026. The work location for this position is flexible within Victoria with hybrid work arrangements available.
