The Department of Government Services (DGS) was established on 1 January 2023 to improve everyone's experience of doing business and interacting with the Victorian government. We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.
About the role
Telecommunications is an essential utility that underpins economic uplift, digital inclusion, and community safety. Digital technologies also play a key role in providing government services to Victorian communities.
The Department of Government Services is also driving a reform agenda across government to improve the way government delivers services.
This role will support the Telecommunications Policy team in working to ensure that Victorian communities have access to essential and high-quality telecommunications services and that the department is well supported in progressing its transformation agenda.
The role involves contributing to the development, communication and evaluation of policy and program initiatives, thought activities such as brief writing and correspondence, research and analysis and reporting.
The Senior Policy Officer position requires strong conceptual/analytical and policy skills as well as an ability to operate with minimal supervision.
A background in telecommunications, ICT or technology is not a prerequisite for this position.
