The Senior Policy, Risk and Governance Advisor is a key strategic position supporting the operations of the Procurement and Facilities Management division. The position is responsible for the management, maintenance and continuous improvement of WorkSafe’s Procurement and Facilities Management policy, governance and risk environment, ensuring that WorkSafe aligns with best practice, while meeting all regulatory and government requirements.

About the opportunity
The Senior Policy, Risk and Governance Advisor is responsible for the management, maintenance and continuous improvement of WorkSafe's Procurement and Facilities Management policy, governance and risk environment, ensuring that WorkSafe aligns with best practice, while meeting all regulatory and government requirements.
The position has a wide scope and will work across a broad range of subjects within the divisions remit – ranging from Property, Fleet, Information and Records Management to Procurement, while engaging with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders at all levels of seniority.
Key accountabilities
- Contribute subject matter expertise to the development, and ongoing maintenance, of the Procurement and Facilities Management governance environment. Including creation of new, and management of existing, policies, processes and procedures, frameworks, governance arrangements, and templates.
- Engage and collaborate with a broad spectrum of internal and external senior stakeholders to ensure that the Procurement and Facilities Management governance environment aligns with broader WorkSafe, Victorian Government, and Federal Government requirements and best practice.
- Identifying and implementing opportunities to automate and systemise WorkSafe Procurement and Facilities Management policies, procedures and templates and incorporate them into technology workflows.
- Provide leadership and oversight on Procurement and Facilities Management risk management activities as well as coordinating the response to internal audits and any subsequent audit action items.
- Develop, oversee and manage WorkSafe's third party risk management framework, undertaking assurance functions to ensure compliance and working with relevant subject matter experts within the business as required.
- Champion Social Procurement at WorkSafe, ensuring that WorkSafe's Social Procurement Strategy, and related actions, are implemented, tracked and updated to align with best practice.
- Design, development and implementation of any training programs, modules and materials associated with Procurement and Facilities Management governance environment.

You are an experienced policy professional who enjoys strengthening governance and driving continuous improvement. You build productive relationships with diverse stakeholders to enable coordinated, cross-organisational problem solving. With highly developed organisational skills, you manage competing priorities effectively and deliver outcomes in a timely manner.
Additionally, you will possess the following skills and experience:
- Advanced written and verbal communication skills including the ability to convey and explain complex issues clearly and in a way that can easily be understood by a range of audiences.
- Well-developed judgement and problem solving abilities and the ability to show initiative and innovation in the development of solutions and in managing issues.
- Highly developed analytical and conceptual skills including the ability to identify and monitor emerging issues and changes in the broader work environment that may impact on work objectives
- Experience in the development and delivery of training programs to internal peers and stakeholders.
- Knowledge of risk management approaches and strategies within a public sector environment.
