About the Role
We are looking for a VPS5 Senior Policy and Project Officer, Transformation and Engagement to join our friendly and dynamic team, playing a key role in implementation delivery and governance, evaluation processes and strengthening evaluation capacity. Our team is committed and our work is fast paced: we have the opportunity to make a significant difference to the lives of students and teachers across our state.
This is a full-time, fixed-term role available from 30 July 2026 to 30 June 2028.
It offers an excellent opportunity to contribute to the design and implementation of flagship reforms that support the continuous improvement of Victoria's education system.

We seek a strategic thinker with attention to detail; a committed professional with strong analytical skills to break down complex information, identify patterns, and draw logical conclusions. The ideal candidate is clear thinking, adept at using software to communicate key messages and evaluation findings effectively, present accessible project plans and evaluation frameworks, evaluates information objectively, questions assumptions, and proactively develops solutions to challenges. A keen eye for accuracy and skills in data analysis is desirable for this role.
Desirable Qualifications and Experience
Experience with data collection and communication tools, analysing quantitative and qualitative data, and working with diverse stakeholders would be beneficial. A background in a similar role is advantageous, but not essential. We welcome candidates who can demonstrate adaptability and a willingness to develop these skills in a dynamic environment.
About us
The Curriculum and Teaching Practice Division (CTPD) is responsible for developing and supporting schools to implement the department's teaching and learning policies and providing curriculum implementation guidance to Victorian government schools.
CTPD draws on contemporary research and practice evidence to develop evidence-based teaching and learning policy reforms, co-design and implement initiatives to support schools to deliver high-quality teaching programs. CTPD has primary responsibility for providing advice and implementation support to government schools to deliver the Victorian Curriculum.

The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems.
