- Provide operational leadership, guide a small team, and shape regional priorities.
- Act as a key conduit between senior leaders and operational teams, influencing decision‑making and alignment.
- Work closely with Traditional Owners, community groups, and partners to deliver culturally respectful and community‑focused outcomes.
About the role
The role provides operational leadership and coordination to deliver regional projects, day‑to‑day services, and organisational priorities. It supports a small team, aligns activities with regional and divisional objectives, and acts as a key link between managers and operational staff. It also builds partnerships with Traditional Owners, community groups and stakeholders, ensures safe and efficient service delivery, contributes to process improvement, and supports emergency response when required. The position plays a critical part in Parks Victoria's transformation and the protection and management of Victoria's parks and reserves.
About the Team
It's a collaborative, inclusive, high‑performing operational team that values relationships, continuous improvement, cultural respect, and delivering real outcomes for Victoria's parks and communities.
We're looking for someone with:
- A demonstrated background coordinating or supervising operational teams in complex environments, ideally in public land or natural resource management.
- Proven and demonstrated high level skills in planning, coordinating and monitoring operational programs or small projects, including managing contractors and resources efficiently.
- A strong understanding of environmental, visitor services and infrastructure programs, plus compliance and safety standards.
- The ability to work within governance, risk, safety and financial management frameworks, including asset and contract processes.
- Confidence and demonstrated ability in supervising, motivating and developing staff, fostering a collaborative, high‑performing team culture.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work effectively with colleagues, Traditional Owners, community groups and external partners.
- The ability to assess issues, develop practical solutions and contribute to continuous improvement as well as understand and communicate how local operations connect to broader organisational goals and can anticipate challenges.
- The willingness to be able to support fire, flood and incident response after appropriate training.
- Tertiary qualifications in environmental management, conservation or business, and a current Victorian Driver Licence.
