The Department of Justice and Community Safety is seeking a Senior Manager, Strategic Policy and Investment to provide a critical role within Policy, Strategy and System Outcomes.
About the Business Unit
Corrections and Justice Services (CJS) is part of the Department of Justice and Community Safety (DJCS) and is responsible for the direction, management and operation of Victoria's adult corrections system, including Community Correctional Services, public and privately operated prisons, and a transitional centre.
CJS is made up of several business units including Corrections Victoria, Justice Services, Justice Health, and Policy, Strategy and System Outcomes (PSSO).
About the Role
Reporting to the Director, Policy and Strategy, the Senior Manager, Strategic Policy and Investment is responsible for managing a small, high performing team with a blend of capabilities including policy development, budget strategy and business case development, project management, and experience in the justice and social service systems.
The role will lead the development of significant state-wide policy and priority projects in response to emerging issues in the corrections system, with a focus on the needs of prisoners and offenders in the community. This will include preparing and coordinating detailed and complex briefings, drafting Cabinet submissions and business cases, undertaking research and leading projects related to corrections policy and reform, and liaising with staff within CJS, across the Department and the public service more broadly.
