The Opportunity
The Senior Manager, Land and Property leads VicGrid's land access and acquisition program for new transmission infrastructure projects across Victoria. The role is responsible for establishing and overseeing frameworks for land access, tenure, compensation and compulsory acquisition that enable timely survey, investigation and development activities while respecting landholder rights and interests. The Senior Manager integrates engagement and social licence principles consistent with the Victorian Transmission Investment Framework (VTIF), ensuring transparent processes and consistent treatment of landholders.
Managing a team of specialists, the Senior Manager provides authoritative advice on complex land and property issues to the Project Delivery team, while coordinating closely with government, statutory authorities, project proponents, communities and industry stakeholders.
What you will deliver
• Lead VicGrid's approach to land access and acquisition for transmission projects, including design of agreements, payment structures and governance processes.
• Oversee the implementation of short- and long-term land access agreements, ensuring compliance with the Land Access Code of Practice (LACoP) and alignment with government policy.
• Provide expert advice on compulsory acquisition pathways under the Electricity Industry Act 2000 and Land Acquisition and Compensation Act 1986, including their application to the Offshore Wind Transmission Project.
• Build and maintain effective relationships with landholders, Traditional Owners, local government, government agencies and industry proponents to secure and sustain social licence for the project.
What you will bring
• Sound knowledge of the Victoria planning and approvals processes, property acquisition and land use processes, and legislation and regulatory requirements.
• Demonstrated experience with land use assessments, mapping and transmission siting activities.
• Demonstrated experience in land assembly for delivery of major infrastructure projects in energy or other sectors.
