The Opportunity
The Senior Manager, First Peoples Policy provides strategic leadership and authoritative policy advice to ensure VicGrid's programs, regulatory approach and infrastructure planning align with First Peoples rights, interests and government commitments. The role influences policy direction across transmission and Renewable Energy Zone initiatives, ensuring alignment with Victorian and Commonwealth legislation, self-determination principles and whole-of-government reform agendas.
Reporting to the Director, First Peoples Policy and Programs, the role leads the development, interpretation and implementation of policy frameworks relating to First Peoples matters. This includes providing expert advice on legislative and regulatory obligations, supporting partnership arrangements with Traditional Owners, and ensuring policy positions are legally sound, evidence-based and practically applied across VicGrid's operations.
This position is classified as an “identified position” and requires that the candidate understands the issues affecting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, and an ability to communicate sensitively and effectively with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander peoples and possess key technical proficiencies to design and deliver Aboriginal policies and programs. Australian Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people are encouraged to apply.
