The Cultural Heritage Manager leads and supports VicGrid's Aboriginal cultural heritage program as part of the planning and delivery of Victoria's Renewable Energy Zones (REZs) and electricity transmission projects. They are responsible for providing expert advice on the cultural heritage matters for the Project Delivery team in VicGrid, as well as working collaboratively with Traditional Owners and First Peoples across the State to deliver proactive strategic assessments of Aboriginal cultural heritage values.

What you will deliver
• Provide leadership, strategic direction and management of the delivery of cultural values assessments, mapping and heritage approvals processes, including supporting Traditional Owners to participate and lead those assessments in self-determining ways.
• Participate and provide direction in relation to the development and implementation of strategies and plans for cultural heritage and Traditional Owner activities to ensure outcomes are met consistent with the objectives of VTIF.
• Actively engage with Victorian Traditional Owners to ensure VicGrid's cultural heritage approaches and programs align with Traditional Owners priorities and support self-determination and is aligned with DEECA's Pupangarli Marnmarnepu ‘Owning Our Future' – the Aboriginal Self-Determination Reform Strategy 2020-2025.
What you will bring
• Sound knowledge of the administration and legislative aspects of heritage assessments and approvals processes including Cultural Heritage Management Plans and other process and documentation requirements under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006.
• Extensive experience and knowledge in the development and delivery of best-practice cultural heritage policy, projects, and approvals processes, and approaches supporting Aboriginal self-determination, is essential. Sound knowledge of the administration and legislative aspects of heritage assessments and approvals processes including Cultural Heritage Management Plans and other process and documentation requirements under the Aboriginal Heritage Act 2006.
• Demonstrated knowledge of policies and legislation relevant to First Peoples rights and interests in Victoria (e.g. Treaty, Self-Determination); demonstrated awareness of self-determination and cultural sensitivity; experience engaging with First Peoples and Victorian Traditional Owners, is essential.
