The Opportunity
The Senior Manager Access Operations is responsible for establishing and overseeing VicGrid's standards and compliance framework for the Victorian Access Regime. The focus is on monitoring and compliance in preparation for VicGrid's access regime to go live on a progressive basis. This will include ensuring the access scheme is designed to be fit-for-purpose, that access conditions are monitored and non-compliances are appropriately rectified (including through 3rd parties).
This role will also oversee reviews and updates to the operational policy, standards and guidelines that support the Access & Connections (A&C) processes. This includes liaising with teams across VicGrid to update the Grid Impact Assessment (GIA) Guidelines, Access handbook and the internal Access Evaluation Plan.

What you will deliver
- Establish and oversee VicGrid's Access Compliance and Monitoring framework, including protocols for monitoring developer and generator compliance with Access conditions and steps to rectify non-compliances.
- Describe and implement Escalation mechanisms for reporting breaches to 3rd parties, who will oversee some enforcement activities.
- Work with Strategy & Planning division to highlight and work through any Access Scheme design elements that require modification.
- Work with Strategy & Planning division to develop and maintain key internal and external operational policy documents describing and governing the Victorian Access Regime.
- Work with stakeholders and 3rd parties to ensure the Access Regime is administered in a way that aligns with national and state regimes, upholds commitments made, and meets the needs of industry.
- Ensure guidance materials are evidence-based, legally compliant and aligned to sector best practice and VicGrid objectives.
- Drive continuous improvement to optimise in processes and practices and ensure they are fit for purpose.
- Coordinate with the Organisation Compliance Function to ensure consistency and integration of access compliance into VicGrid's broader compliance frameworks.
What you will bring
- The ideal candidate will have first-hand experience taking an energy project from a policy design and reform stage through to operations, managing the project from reform through to implementation.
- Experience with both government and renewable energy developers.
- Project Management experience in a relevant field.
- Operational or execution experience in a relevant field.
- Experience in policy development, compliance management, or regulatory affairs.
- Appropriate tertiary and/or postgraduate qualification in a relevant discipline (e.g. engineering, commercial, legal).
