About the department
The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services.
The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the division
The Communications Division collaborates with key stakeholders to strategically shape and deliver communication and community engagement opportunities.
The division is responsible for the delivery of communications on behalf of the department to support and improve Victoria's education.
The partnership allows the division to support the Victorian Government priorities in early childhood development, and school education. This includes engaging with the Department's workforce, supporting the implementation of policies and reforms, protecting, and strengthening the reputation of our education and providing communications support and advice to the Victorian Government.
The Public Communications Branch has responsibility for the department's external communications and provides communications advice and support to Ministers and senior executives.
The branch is responsible for media management, crisis communications, major events and speechwriting. The branch also identifies and delivers opportunities to generate positive publicity for Victoria's education system.
The Major Events Team develops, plans and delivers major departmental events and provides events management services and advice.
The Major Events Team is a team of event management specialists who work across portfolios and key areas of the department to deliver a range of high-quality major events annually.
The team works closely with other teams across the Communications Division to deliver events that are aligned to strategy and support the department's positive promotion of Victoria's education system.
About the role
The Senior Major Events Adviser delivers, and project manages a range of strategically aligned major awards and stakeholder events and many others across the events calendar (minimum 2 major awards programs).
The Senior Major Events Adviser is responsible for the end-to-end delivery of events, including procuring services to support the event, coordinating communications and promotional requirements of events, preparing event briefings, coordinating stakeholder management and supports staff and suppliers to ensure that events are delivered successfully and within budget.
This role partners with colleagues across the Communications Division to ensure major events are aligned with communication strategies.
The Senior Major Events Adviser reports to the Major Events Manager.
