Challenging and intellectually stimulating legal work
The Legal Team plays a pivotal role in supporting the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT) to deliver its regulatory responsibilities and uphold public confidence in the teaching profession. Providing specialist legal expertise across complex investigations, disciplinary proceedings, litigation and regulatory decision-making, the team works at the heart of matters that protect the safety and wellbeing of children and young people while maintaining the integrity of Victoria's education sector.
About the role
Reporting to the Legal Manager within the Professional Conduct Branch, you will provide strategic and high-level legal advice across VIT's regulatory functions.
As a Senior Lawyer, you will be at the forefront of VIT's regulatory work, providing expert legal advice on complex and sensitive matters, leading disciplinary and prosecutorial proceedings, and influencing decisions that have a direct impact on the teaching profession.
This is a senior role requiring exceptional legal judgement, advocacy skills and the ability to manage complex and often sensitive matters from initial assessment through to litigation and resolution.
