About the Victorian Early Childhood Regulatory Authority (VECRA)
The Victorian Early Childhood Regulatory Authority (VECRA) is the statutory authority responsible for regulating early childhood education and care services in Victoria. VECRA works to ensure the safety, wellbeing and development of children through effective regulation, compliance, quality assessment and continuous improvement across the early childhood sector.
VECRA plays a critical system management role, providing guidance, oversight and assurance to the sector while supporting high-quality early childhood education outcomes for Victorian children and families.
About the Branch
The VECRA Legal Branch sits within the VECRA Corporate Division and is lead by the VECRA General Counsel. VECRA Legal Branch is a dynamic inhouse legal team and provides practical regulatory and governance advice on complex matters, including those with significant probity, integrity and reputational considerations. The Branch also manages all external litigation for VECRA including matters at the Supreme Court, Magistrates Court, Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal, the Fair Work Commission and the state and federal Equal Opportunity Commissions.
About the Role
VECRA is seeking three experienced and collaborative Senior Lawyers to join the VECRA Legal Branch. The VECRA Senior Lawyers will report to the Deputy General Counsel of the VECRA and will form part of VECRA's in-house legal team of six lawyers, along with a General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel and lawyer.

Attributes
Senior Lawyers will possess a proven ability to provide practical and authoritative legal, regulatory and governance advice on complex matters, including those with significant probity, integrity and reputational considerations. We are looking for strong legal expertise in regulatory law including compliance and enforcement action, as well as legislative interpretation, privacy law, employment law and negligence.
