- Providing, and supporting other senior VIDA Roads lawyers in providing, high quality and pragmatic legal advice on a broad range of legal areas, including matters relating to project development, procurement, delivery, construction contracting, legislation, interfaces, land, planning and environment issues.
- Developing and drafting contractual and procurement documentation, briefs and related governance papers (to achieve desired outcomes within budget and agreed timeframes) in compliance with internal reporting and governance requirements.
- Supporting other senior lawyers in the management complex or sensitive legal matters and issues and the provision of authoritative legal advice.
- Providing advice and guidance to staff with respect to applicable policies and procedures including Ministerial Directions and VIDA policies.
- Establishing and maintaining trusted relationships with relevant internal and external stakeholders to enable the efficient and appropriate provision of legal services and to ensure VIDA’s and project objectives are met.
- Effectively liaising with external advisors to provide instructions and interpret and apply advice and collaborate with other teams and external advisors as required, to ensure issues are considered efficiently and a consistent and agreed approach is taken to support VIDA and project expectations.
Reporting to a Managing Principal Lawyer, the Senior Lawyer is responsible for providing legal advice and project support to VIDA Roads project teams and broader business. There are two roles available, one will be primarily focussed on the delivery of North East Link, in particular its major alliance packages whilst the other role will be focussed on land, planning and environment issues related to the project.
About You
- A relevant tertiary qualification in law and admitted, or eligible to be admitted, as a legal practitioner to the Supreme Court of Victoria is mandatory.
- You will have demonstrated experience providing legal advice and guidance on construction, infrastructure or other major Government projects and on land, planning and environmental matters.
This opportunity is a 3-year fixed-term position.
