About the Role
This position is Fixed Term - Full Time until 28-SEP-2026
An exceptional opportunity has arisen for an experienced senior or mid-level lawyer to join the Construction and Property Law Unit (CPLU) of the Department of Education (DE). Senior Lawyers in the CPLU contribute to the provision of specialist legal advice and services to the Victorian School Building Authority and Victorian government schools, assisting in complex related matters supporting early childhood and schools in Victoria.
Victoria is the ‘Education State' and we are delivering the largest education infrastructure upgrade in Victoria's history including construction of brand-new government schools, upgrades of existing schools, and delivery of new kindergartens.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's law degree with admission to practice law in Victoria (or ability to be admitted if role is offered) and minimum of 3 years PAE.

The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
