Your new role
Join our Investigations unit as a Senior Investigator. Reporting to a Manager, Investigations and working in a multi-disciplinary team, Senior Investigators conduct complex investigations in accordance with relevant legislation and IBAC policies and procedures.
You will be involved in:
- Developing and implementing investigative plans and strategies consistent with the Investigation Unit's policies and procedures.
- Preparing for and conducting interviews to determine further actions based on the information.
- Preparing complex written materials including affidavits, briefs of evidence, internal reports and other documents using evidence collated and interpreted during investigations.
- Taking a lead role in the obtaining and execution of search warrants as well as the seizure of exhibits in accordance with procedures and legislation.

About you
- Formal qualifications and/or training in investigations, law enforcement, or a related discipline is essential.
- Broad experience in the conduct of serious and complex investigations.
- Be able to pass a level of health and fitness to carry defensive equipment, undertaking psychometric and medical assessments on a biennial basis (mandatory).
Due to the requirement to attain a NV1 security clearance candidates must be an Australian citizen at the time of application.
Applicants must be based in, or willing to relocate to, Victoria.
Pre-employment testing
This position is classified as a Senior IBAC Officer under the IBAC Act. Senior IBAC Officers must be fit to safely carry and use defensive equipment when performing the functions of an authorised officer and are required to have a reasonable level of fitness and psychological capacity.
During the recruitment process, at IBAC's cost, you will be required to undertake and meet minimum requirements in relation to:
- Psychometric testing - completed online covering cognitive ability, personality, work values, and safety behaviours.
- Physical and medical capacity - conducted during a 60-minute appointment, comprising of baseline evaluations for vision, hearing, mobility and spirometry in accordance with Australian Standards. Candidates will be required to demonstrate at a minimum: ten push ups, ten sit ups, ten body squats, and a three-minute step up cardio exercise.
