An exciting opportunity to be part of a high performing team in State Government working in the delivery of environmental impact assessment processes to support the assessment and approvals for large and complex State significant projects in Victoria.
About Us
We create thriving places and connected communities. We bring together transport, planning, land use, precinct and policy functions in a single department to deliver the best outcomes for Victorians.
Together with our portfolio agencies, we are responsible for planning, building, operating and maintaining Victoria’s transport, planning and land services for use by all.
Planning and Land Services delivers responsive, customer focussed, high quality planning, land administration and property services that support thriving places and connected communities.
The Impact Assessment Unit in the State Planning Assessment and Facilitation division is responsible for administering Victoria’s statutory environmental impact assessment (EIA) system for major projects, in particular the Environment Effects Act 1978 (EE Act) and Bilateral Agreement with the Commonwealth under the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC Act). This supports the Minister for Planning and government to make timely, informed assessments and decisions, and proponents to evaluate and refine their proposals efficiently in the context of effective EIA and stakeholder input. At a practical level, the unit manages processes ensuring integrated, robust assessment of impacts, works with agencies to elicit inputs, ensures a coordinated approach and provides governance for statutory compliance.
We foster a safe, inclusive and constructive place to work.
