The Team
The position of Senior Game Officer forms a part of the Compliance & Intelligence branch within the Game Management Authority. The Game Management Authority (GMA) delivers programs to improve and promote sustainable and responsible game hunting in Victoria. The Compliance and Intelligence Division is responsible for improving compliance with hunting laws and regulations.
The Role
Senior Game Officers (SGOs) deliver high quality community-centred game hunting compliance services within a state segment (Eastern or Western Victoria), while also contributing to state-wide service delivery. SGOs actively contribute to the development and implementation of appropriate enforcement, education, engagement, and other strategies in accordance with whole of organisational objectives and priorities, to maximise compliance.
SGOs engage with a variety of stakeholders, including licence holders, government, and community groups, and manage their own work programs, under broad direction from the Team Leader, to ensure effective and timely service delivery. SGOs work collaboratively in small regionally based teams and actively contribute and support programs and projects across the broader organisation.
About You
The successful candidate should have the following skills and experience:
• Highly developed interpersonal skills and sound judgement. The ability to assess the situation and make appropriate and informed decisions, particularly in potentially volatile situations.
• Highly developed ability to build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders or groups.
• Ability to clearly and confidently communicate with all people at all levels in the organisation and the community. Well-developed interpersonal skills with experience using feedback to refine communication and ensure communications are understood.
