About the Department
The department provides a wide range of learning and development support and services.
The department provides policy leadership, plans for the future of education in Victoria and leads key cross-sector collaboration. The department plays an important system steward role by providing support, guidance, oversight and assurance across early childhood and school education systems, as well as directly providing school education and 50 new early learning centres.
About the Division
Freedom of Information is located within the Assurance, Knowledge and Executive Services Division. The division provides expert advice and support to the department through a range of portfolio, advisory and assurance services.
The division also provides support to the department's executives and ministers and the Office of the Secretary and manages all Cabinet and Parliament processes. In addition, it undertakes a range of time limited projects to support the efficient operation of the department.
About the Role
The Senior Freedom of Information Officer is responsible for managing freedom of information requests in accordance the Victorian Freedom of Information Act 1982, including assessing documents, drafting decisions, and engaging with applicants and stakeholders across the department.
The position manages non-topical requests, which most commonly seek access to personal information, and leads on requests relating Early Learning Victoria.
The Senior Freedom of Information Officer works as part of a team and undertakes work autonomously within established business processes and guidance. Everyone in the team is expected to live our values, contribute to continuous improvement, share knowledge, and maintain accurate records of their work in line with departmental policy.

This position is suited to someone who is a team player with knowledge and experience working with the Act, has excellent communication, strategic planning, people leadership, and critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
