Do you want to build the skills and confidence that help people work safely and effectively in Victoria’s forests and when responding to emergencies?
As a Senior Forest and Fire Operations Officer – Training, you’ll lead the planning, coordination and delivery of activities to build and maintain technical and operational capability for DEECA staff. You’ll help people gain the practical skills, experience and confidence they need to safely and effectively work in the field when undertaking forest and fuel management activities or emergency response.
This is a role that will see you contributing to all aspects of DEECA's emergency management capability. You may find yourself coordinating delivery of large training programs one-week, coaching personnel in technical or operational skills the next, or assisting with the response to emergencies and fuel management. No matter the task, your work will make an important contribution to building and maintaining DEECA's emergency management capability.
You’ll join the Regional Bushfire and Emergency Management team within Forest and Fire Operations. The team works together to build the capability, readiness and relationships needed to respond effectively to bushfires and other emergencies on public land.
We’re looking for someone with practical forest and fire operations experience, a demonstrated ability to build capability through formal and informal programs, and a supportive approach to coaching and mentoring others. You’ll be confident working independently, coordinating programs, communicating clearly and maintaining high standards for safety and training delivery. A Certificate IV Training and Assessment (40122) or equivalent, or substantial progress towards, will be highly regarded.
If you’re ready to use your operational experience to develop people and strengthen Victoria’s emergency management capability, we’d love to hear from you.
