We bring important day-to-day services together in one department to make things easy and seamless for Victorians and businesses. We are doing this by connecting and digitising our systems and platforms across state and local government as well as streamlining our corporate and procurement services.
About the role
The Senior Financial Accountant is responsible for providing day-to-day assistance and advice on accounting issues and ensuring the availability of appropriate and timely month-end information and reports to allow for informed decision making.
There are 2 Fixed Term positions available until 31 December 2026.

About you
To be considered for the role, you must be able to demonstrate:
· Financial Accounting and Statutory Reporting: Excellent financial skills and demonstrated experience in financial accounting and reporting. Interpreting and maintaining compliance with accounting standards, legislation and organisational policies: Provides expert technical interpretation of Victorian Treasury accounting policies, legislation and financial accounting and reporting frameworks to support the development of organisation specific policies.
· Stakeholder management: Identifies issues in common for one or more stakeholders and uses to build mutually beneficial partnerships, Identifies, and responds to stakeholder's underlying needs, Uses understanding of the stakeholder’s organisational context to ensure outcomes are achieved, finds innovative solutions to resolve stakeholder issues.
· Conceptual and analytical ability: Deals with concepts and complexity comfortably; Uses analytical and conceptual skills to reason through problems; Has creative ideas and can project how these can link to innovations.
· Detail focus: Observes fine details; Identifies gaps in information; Looks for logical sequences of information; Highlights practical considerations of plans and activities.
· Initiative and accountability: Proactive and self-starting; Seizes opportunities and acts upon them; Takes responsibility for own actions.
Mandatory requirements
· Specialist qualification: finance or accounting degree. Professional qualification such as CA or CPA is desirable.
