Senior Financial Accountant
• Full time, fixed term role through to 18th June 2027 (Maternity leave cover)
• Elizabeth Street Location with hybrid working
• $120,000 - $130,000 p.a. (depending on skills and experience) + super + salary packaging + 5 weeks annual leave + monthly ADO's

About the team
The Chief Financial Officer division at Peter Mac includes finance, commercial finance, procurement, finance systems, project management and infrastructure and capital. We take pride in leading the financial operations that support our hospital's mission of enabling innovative cancer research and transforming lives.
About the role
The Senior Financial Accountant provides technical financial accounting and reporting services across the Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre and Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation. This role is also responsibilities include month-end accrual and deferral journals, balance sheet and project reconciliations, month-end and year-end reporting obligations and leading the capital accounting function for Peter Mac, including: policy and procedure development; capital planning; project monitoring and reporting; recognition of assets acquisition, depreciation and disposal.
In addition, the role will be responsible for helping to develop the technical skills and reporting capabilities within Financial Accounting team, and supporting and delivering the following:
• Strategy and roll out of accounting standard changes
• Policy and procedure documentation and improvements
• Month-end and year-end reporting and auditing requirements
• Annual Capital Planning process across Peter Mac
About you
You will have a proven ability to build rapport and strong, professional relationships with a range of senior stakeholders whilst managing competing priorities
You'll bring with you:
• Bachelor Degree or higher in Accounting/Commerce
• Membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Australia (ICAA) and/or Certified Practising Accountants of Australia (CPA)
• Experience in senior financial accounting roles within complex organisations.
• Demonstrated technical financial accounting skills to manage complex accounting issues with particular experience in capital projects, monitoring and reporting and investment accounting
• Demonstrated experience in the preparation of annual financial statements.
• Demonstrated ability to create a culture of compliance with capital policies and procedures.
• Proven capability to analyse data, prepare recommendations and communicate clearly with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation.
