About the branch
The Office of the Victorian Government Solicitor (VGS) provides strategic, advisory and operational support to the VGS to enable effective leadership of VGSO and the delivery of high quality legal services to government.
The Office of the VGS also supports the Executive Leadership team, which consists of Assistant Victorian Government Solicitors, the Chief Operating Officer and the Director of People and Culture.
It acts as a central coordination point for executive decision making, governance and workflow, and engagement with senior stakeholders within VGSO and across government.
The Office is a small, high trust function comprising a Senior Executive Advisor and Executive Assistant, working closely with the VGS on complex, sensitive and time critical matters.
It operates in a fast paced, confidential environment requiring sound judgement, discretion, and a whole of government perspective.
About the role
We are seeking an experienced Senior Executive Advisor for a 16-month fixed-term opportunity. With proven public sector experience, you will provide strategic, high-level advice and executive support to the Victorian Government Solicitor (VGS) and Executive Leadership Team (ELT) across a broad range of complex, sensitive and organisation-wide matters
Based within the Office of the VGS, this highly visible and influential role is central to supporting executive decision-making, driving strategic projects, managing key communications, coordinating governance activities and delivering initiatives that advance VGSO's strategic objectives. Working closely with the VGS and ELT, you will act as a trusted advisor, providing insight and recommendations on emerging issues while ensuring the successful delivery of key organisational priorities. The role also has responsibility for leading and managing the Executive Assistant, ensuring the effective operation of the Office of the VGS and the delivery of high-quality executive support services.
Operating in a fast-paced and high-trust environment, you will leverage your sound judgement, political acumen and exceptional stakeholder management skills to navigate complex and confidential matters. As a member of the ELT, you will play a pivotal role in fostering cross-organisational collaboration, enabling effective executive leadership and translating strategic priorities into tangible organisational outcomes.
This is a unique opportunity for a strategic, relationship-focused executive advisor with a strong understanding of public sector operating environments to work at the centre of organisational leadership, governance and decision-making, contributi ng directly to the delivery of VGSO's strategic vision and priorities.
